FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SEATTLE – Juvenile Justice & Rehabilitation Administration (JJ&RA) would like to invite your organization to the 2013 JJ&RA Region 2 Parole-First A.M.E. (FAME) Church Resource Fair, BBQ, & Classic Car Show tomorrow from Noon until 4:00 p.m. The theme for the day is: “Mentoring in the Moment” because sometimes just being a listening ear or providing a few words of encouragement can go a long way!
One of our goals is to provide greater access to employment, educational, housing, mentoring, internships, and other transitional services and opportunities that help youth/young adults that are on Parole, have No-Parole, or are just “At Risk” of being the perpetrator or victim of future gun violence. Additional goals include reducing recidivism, disproportionate minority contact, the youth unemployment rate, and youth violence in the Greater Seattle/King County area.
“Juvenile Justice & Rehabilitation Administration, FAME Church, and over 36 additional community and private sector sponsors have come together to support and encourage the youth in our community. We want to help guide them towards a more positive direction during a time when they need it the most. We have invited youth from all over the area to this pro-social event and it is our sincere hope that we can collectively help increase their access to opportunities’ that can enhance their lives and their community as well, responds JJ&RA Program Administrator Maurice Ward.”
A wide array of employers, schools, colleges, and social service providers are invited to participate and offer services and opportunities to those who attend such as the Urban Financial Services Coalition (UFSC) – Puget Sound Chapter and long-term stakeholder JPM Chase. The UFSC is the pre-eminent financial services organization that provides professional development, supports educational advancement, and promotes economic empowerment for its members and minority communities at-large. The UFSC equip youth-at-risk and youth-at-hope from underrepresented communities with customized toolkits necessary to support financial stability and improve the overall quality of life. The UFSC and JPM Chase team mobilize young adults into the financial mainstream by offering immediate banking solutions and structured financial educational workshops. On the spot banking incentives are offered by JPM Chase.
“We encourage the youth to stop by our exhibit and register for the What’s SUP (Seattle Urban Peeps) new project designed for minority youths from low-moderate income households seeking employment and paid internships. We look forward to working with everyone at this vital community event, states Executive Director Lizzie L. Evans.”
Thank you in advance for your support of this event and of our youth/young adults and families in our communities. We only need a moment of your time to be our partner in the endeavor and/or become a sponsor for this event. Please distribute these attachments:
