“On behalf of the First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Seattle, the public is invited to attend the 11:00 AM worship service and subsequent Veterans Dinner on November 10, 2019. This event is free and dedicated to those who wear the military uniform and Veterans and families who have served,” states Pastor Carey G. Anderson.

Information will be shared about:

  • The King County Veterans Program which serves low-income, homeless, disabled, and at-risk veterans and their families.
  • How the Veterans Program can meet the emergency needs of entitled and eligible veterans and their families.
  • How the Veteran’s Program provides funding to supplement existing services. This support has continued with King County voters approving the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy in November 2017.
  • Other services funded by community-based organizations and nonprofits.
  • Learn about other programs from federal and state partners.

This event is in partnership with the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle (ULMS) to provide navigation assistance through the various Veterans and Senior programs throughout King County. “The ULMS has found that many families are eligible for the Veterans and or Senior property tax exemption but are not taking advantage of this benefit,” per Vice President of Housing and Financial Empowerment, Linda Taylor

“The financial benefits offered will parallel with engagement in learning invaluable resources available to veterans and families, “states Urban Financial Services Coalition (UFSC) Founder and Executive Director Lizzie Martinez Alvarez. The UFSC aim to economically empower Veterans by providing collaborative services that inform, inspire and teach Veterans and their families how to leverage their government benefits. Studies have proven that financial literacy is key to sustaining economic stability.

Representatives from Starbucks Armed Forces Network will also be in attendance.
